Literatur-Pop-Up-Store im Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus vom 4. bis 8. Dezember 2023, 12–18:30 Uhr Das Autor*innenkollektiv „Literatur für das, was passiert“ verfasst auch dieses Jahr wieder individuelle literarische Wunschtexte und nimmt dafür Spenden für Menschen auf der Flucht entgegen. Die Autor*innen sind mit Schreibmaschinen täglich von 12–18:30 Uhr im Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus und nehmen Textbestellungen aller Art entgegen: egal ob Geschichten über eine konspirative Weihnachtsbäckerei, Haikus über einen Mord im Fahrstuhlschacht oder Gedichte über Raves im Bürgeramt. Die Spenden gehen dieses Jahr an „Pro Asyl“ und das Projekt „Miles“ für queere Geflüchtete organisiert vom „Lesben- und Schwulenverband in Deutschland“. Present Moments – Berlin-Asian Fine Arts Organizer: Berliner Literarische Aktion e.V. Place: Gallery Moving Poets Novilla, Hasselwerder Straße 22, 12439 Berlin Time: from September 15th until October 8th Vernissage on September 15th at 7pm. Snacks will be available, followed by a concert. Finnisage on October 8th at 3pm. WIth a Performance by Umi Maisaroh (sðydivision) and a concert after. In the center of the Berlin Asia Arts Festival, our exhibition at the moving poets Novilla sheds some light on the rich and broad spectrum of contemporary art by Berlin artists with Asian backgrounds. Without claiming to represent this spectrum comprehensively, we will show some remarkable examples of individual and collective art practices in painting, graphic art, photography, media art and installations. Visitors are invited to discover new perspectives, to follow artistic developments and transformation processes, to be inspired by greenhouse structures or to zoom with Buddha. “Ave Maria” Book Premiere Organizer: Berliner Literarische Aktion e.V. Place: Moving Poets Novilla, Hasselwerder Straße 22, 12439 Berlin Time: November 12., 19:30 Tickets: 5/3 euros Tsou Yung-Shan ist eine in Berlin lebende taiwanesische Künstlerin und Schriftstellerin, deren Werk die Handschrift und Buchmacherei als konzeptuelle künstlerische Ausdrucksformen umfasst. Ihre Künstlerbücher und Publikationen sind in den USA, Kanada, Großbritannien, Deutschland, Taiwan und in der Schweiz gesammelt. 2016 wurde ihr “Traveler’s Guide to Ride-sharing” veröffentlicht, dessen Bearbeitung als Musikstück Falling Farewell 2014 vom Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin in der Innovation Series Soundscape-Literature into Music uraufgeführt wurde. Ihr Berlinroman "Ave Maria" ist nun gerade in Taiwan erschienen und wir haben für diesen Abend eigens einige Auszüge aus diesem Episodenroman von dem in Taipeh lebenden Übersetzer Johannes Fiederling ins Deutsche übersetzen lassen = Deutschlandpremiere! Die deutschen Texte liest: Meike Rötzer, die nach zahlreichen Bühnenengagements u.a. in Kinofilmen wie "Einer meiner ältesten Freunde" (1994) und "Nach Fünf im Urwald" (1995) vor der Kamera stand. Neben Sprechertätigkeiten für verschiedene Radiosender und zahlreichen Lesungen arbeitet sie seit 2008 als Lektorin für den Verlag Matthes & Seitz Berlin und liest für uns aus Yung-Shan Tsous Roman "Ave Maria"! In varying locations, PARATAXE regularly invites Berlin authors, who pen their work in languages other than German, to take part in conversations, readings and new translations. For Conversas Berlin #25 we have invited the following three Conversadores: Adrien Missika (it’s all about the weather) Yung-shan Tsou (our gaze) Elizabeth McTernan (seeing things) Conversas Berlin is a series of weekly informal meetings made so that we can get to know and discuss projects and interests; everyone is welcome and entrance is free. During the event three Conversadores (those who talk at Conversas) bring something to share with the gathered group, for thirty minutes each. As the title suggests itself, Conversas (Conversations in Portuguese) offer an equal set up from which all can benefit. Guests are invited to immediately interrupt and ask questions. The main goal of Conversas is to create a conversation, a discussion, a dialogue. The third series of 5 Conversas Berlin starts on November 1st and runs every Wednesday until November 29. This series is happening at the Blogfabrik, Oranienstrasse 185, and are organized by Sabrina Basten and Sarie Nijboer. Our Gaze | Tsou Yung-shan solo exhibition 27.10. - 18.11.2017 Opening reception: 27.10.2017 at 16:00 SinArts Gallery, Korte Vijverberg 2, den Haag SinArts is happy to introduce Tsou Yung-shan to the Netherlands. Yung-shan is a Berlin-based Taiwanese artist who focusses much of her practice on observing changes in our society, and in particular our visual culture. Obsessed by books, they have become a portal to observing the deep and underlying changes taking place in society today. For this exhibition we are collaborating on creating a private environment for the visitor to read handmade books by the artist. The experience will be recorded from different angles and live-streamed to other parts of the gallery. The sanctuary of the closed cabin will be violated. We invite all participants to reconsider reading, and reflect on the evolution of content communication through book formats and to consider the possible relations between human beings and “books”. It is a creative time to envision new medias, and imagine or even question various conceptual mediums of presentation in narratives. The exhibition will be accompanied by two artists talks, on 28.10. (The artist book as object, with YinYin Wong) and 04.11. (The Crossroad Between Public and Private - Where I End And You Begin, with Nancy Hoffmann), which will be announced seperately. This exhibition has been made possible through the kind support of Spotlight Taiwan and the LeidenAsiaYear. |

video documention A l'occasion de la sortie de «La salle d'attente» en France l'année dernière, un dialogue s’est instauré entre Pierre-Yves Baubry, le fondateur du site internet «Lettres de Taïwan», et Tsou Yung-Shan, auteure du roman.Cet échange est parti des impressions laissées parce livre pour aller jusqu’aux sources et stratégies de création, en passant par des sujets aussi divers que la réalisation de l’art dans l’écriture, les expériences d’une personne vivant à l’étranger et les formes prises par son attente… ainsi que les attentes des lecteurs face à ce roman. Aujourd'hui, la Librairie Le Pigeonnier a le plaisir de poursuivre avec vous cet entretien, grâce à la présence en nos murs de Tsou Yung-Shan et de Pierre-Yves Baubryqui ont accepté de venir nous parler de «La salle d'attente». Nous découvrirons la genèse de la version française de ce livre, et leurs points de vue sur le même ouvrage qu'ils ont écrit ou lu dans des langues différentes. Ils nous expliqueront, à partir de là, comment une langue peut s’insérer dans une autre. Nous verrons quelle a été l'influence de l’allemand dans l’écriture de Tsou Yung-Shan et comment un roman taïwanais se traduit en français.Enfin, en guise de conclusion, nous essayerons de voir quelle image de la littérature taïwanaise est donnée aux lecteurs français à travers ce livre. |

Water Rights SFAI140: 1 Night, 20 Talks & Performances, 140 Seconds Each November 18, 7-9 pm, Santa Fe Art Institute SFAI140 is an event unlike any other: 1 night, 20 inspiring talks & performances, 140 seconds each. With twenty speakers in one evening, the energy and ideas shared are electric. When I met my fellow artists at the Santa Fe Art Institute, I was exhilarated by their creative capacity and the varied dynamics in their works. Early exchanges inspired a collective book project. As a premise we forged towards challenging the traditional format of bookmaking. The exhibition Book semiotics was one result of our experimental bookmaking. This 140-second video delivered the conceptual background of the exhibition. |

La Salle d’attente Tsou Yung-Shan Traduit du chinois (Taïwan) par Marie-Louise Orsini Littérature / Fiction Parution : 01 septembre 2016 Dans la salle d'attente d'une administration, un homme patiente. Plus qu'un visa, ce sont des réponses au sens de sa vie qu'il espère... Xu Mingzhang a rencontré son épouse à l’université de Taipei. Leurs amis ont bien du mal à comprendre ce qui les unit : c’est une étudiante ambitieuse et très en vue, alors que lui est réservé, toujours plongé dans ses livres. Il la suit pourtant en Allemagne où il s’enferme peu à peu dans un monde intérieur fait de lectures et de silences. Jusqu’au jour où elle lui annonce qu’elle le quitte. Désormais installé seul à Berlin, il attend qu’une fonctionnaire décide ou non de prolonger son visa et surtout, de trouver un sens à sa vie, loin de son île natale. |

April 2016 Künstlerin und Autorin Tsou Yung-Shan (鄒永珊) Die freischaffenden bildenden Künstlerin und Autorin Tsou Yung-Shan hat das Studium im Jahr 2002 nach Berlin an die Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee gebracht und sie hat Berlin als Schaffensort für ihre künstlerische Tätigkeiten gewählt. Berlin scheint eine inspirierende Stadt zu sein, denn Frau Tsou ist nicht nur sehr vielseitig als Künstlerin tätig, sondern hat inzwischen auch zwei Romane geschrieben — "Der Warteraum"(等候室) und "Mitfahrgelegenheit"(鐵道共乘旅遊手冊) und ist auch bei dem Projekt "Das Leben ist eine Insel", im Rahmen dessen taiwanische Literatur in Deutschland bekannt gemacht werden soll, involviert. In dem zweiteiligen Gespräch mit Ilon Huang spricht Tsou Yung-Shan u.a. darüber, warum sie sich für Berlin als Schaffensort für ihre künstlerische Tätigkeiten gewählt hat, sie geht auf ihrer Kunst und die Inhalte ihrer beiden Bücher ein und vergleicht Taipei mit Berlin.
